Rockets vs. Airplanes: The Future of Passenger Travel

The Future of Passenger Travel

According to Musk, we could someday be flying on rockets instead of planes.

Recently, Elon Musk surprised us again with his grand plans. He announced that soon we’ll be able to travel around Earth not in regular planes, but on his Starship rocket! Well, if anyone can pull this off, it’s probably Musk.

He even said that his rocket would achieve speeds as high as 27,000 km/h and with it, you could travel from London to New York in 30 minutes or from New York to Shanghai in just 39 minutes! That’s like across town and back, except no traffic, just space.

But there is a catch. The rocket will fly fast, but the G-forces will be serious, especially at takeoff and landing. And it would appear that for comfort, passengers will have to forget about such trifles as a bathroom or kitchen. Musk himself said, “The flight will only take 15-20 minutes, so we won’t need bathrooms.” Hmmm. something tells me this is not going to be the most comfortable experience.

Just in case, Musk warned these flights won’t be for anyone; but if it pays off, then in the future we can really travel around the globe in an hour, not 15 hours as it would take now on a plane.
